Lou Dobbs show
Hi all,
I am excited about this platform of blogging. I know it has been out there for so long, but now that Sabir Bhatia has come up with this new BlogEverywhere.com - I guess blogging has a great new relevance. It has this feature where you can CC your blogs from where you have originally posted to another more permanent place. That way the original blog will still be available even if the original website is down. So we all can express our opinion without fear. Freedom of speech at its best. Along with that right comes the responsibility of being civil, using proper language, without making any under-the-belt remarks against any individual, group, society, religion, nation etc.. all my comments will be about others comments, ideas, opinions, choices etc.
Personally, I find Lou Dobbs "India bashing" has long gone sour, tasteless.. for quite a while now. I used to like the Moneyline show very much because it was very objective and based-on-facts business analysis. Now with the Lou Dobbs Tonight has taken this "save America" avatar where he gets guests that will toe his line, reporters that will do "investigative" reporting that will stretch facts too thin to support Lou Dobbs theories. There is hardly any debate anymore. There is no room for any opposing view points. Even the emails that are read out are extremely biased, narrow minded and very sensational. Hardly anything presented are balanced or grounded in solid facts. I turned off for a few days and tried to check out again this week after the visit of President Bush to India and the new changes being brought in by this administration.. and what I saw was the program stooping to new lows.. will bring new points soon...
There are many Blogs out there that has referred to Lous Dobbs' India bashing. There are sites out there where Lou Dobbs tried to explain that he has not bashed India and he is fascinated by India etc.. like http://www.cceia.org/viewMedia.php/prmTemplateID/8/prmID/5054
Yet the mockery continues.
For instance on the march 7th Lou Dobbs tonight, he published a letter - reproduced below..
** And Teri in Massachusetts: Dear Lou, global economy be damned. It took me two hours on the phone today to try and explain to Dell representatives in India that they had sent me the wrong printer ink. My concern for the working class does not end at our country's borders, but we all know the only reason American firms use these people is because they're cheap labor.**
2 hours to explain about wrong printer ink to Dell representative ?? How low can Lou and his team can get to bring out a letter like that. Somehow want to get an average American to believe that the cause of all his suffering is due to someone in India.
and then this
"And Mike in South Carolina wrote in about the president's trip to India: The president's solution of more education and training is suspect when the very jobs we are outsourcing are high-tech jobs. I am an engineer with a master's degree in computer science. I know my job has been outsourced. Those fruit picking jobs are beginning to look pretty good. Perhaps I can displace an illegal alien. But wait, then Bush will get the credit for creating another American job."
Here is someone with Masters in Computer Science loosing his job to someone in India while another is complaining that the work done by the Dell personnel is so low quality that it took 2 hours for the simplest of tasks ! The only purpose seems to be sensationalization and India bashing to boost ratings...
What moral right does Lou Dobbs has to draw his paycheck from CNN TIME Warner media giant who is a forerunner in outsourcing ? Lou should either get his company to be a role model and stop all outsourcing or stop fooling those who lost jobs due to outsourcing by stopping this false "crusade against outsourcing". What say you.. Lou.. ?
